Flappy Bird strips a game down to a single action. A small yellow bird is always falling, a tap gives it a brief lift, and a row of green pipes scrolls toward you with a gap in each one. The first pipe appears a moment after you begin, so the first tap is only about getting the bird moving. After that the game is about spacing your taps so the bird arrives at each gap at the right height.

Tips

• Think of it as a rhythm game. A steady, evenly spaced tap pattern carries you through many pipes in a row, while panicked extra taps send the bird into the top pipe.
• Watch the next pipe, not the bird and not the score. Judge your height one pipe ahead so you are already lined up when the gap arrives.
• Gaps at different heights ask for a slightly different tap pattern. When the next gap is lower, let the bird sink with fewer taps. When it is higher, tap a little sooner.
• Tap lightly and consistently rather than hard. Every tap is the same size, so the skill is purely in timing.
